Ductless Systems
The mini-split system, like conventional AC systems, has two main components: an outdoor compressor/condenser, and an indoor air-handling unit. A conduit that houses the power cable, refrigerant lines, and a drain line links the outdoor and indoor units eliminating the need for ductwork. The unit cools in hot weather and works in reverse in cooler weather, absorbing heat from the outside air and moving it indoors to heat your home. The result is efficient cooling and heating for year-round comfort especially here in Florida. Mini-split systems are available in various configurations and make excellent choices for room additions where extending or installing traditional duct work is not feasible.
Advantages
Mini splits are small and flexible for zoning, or heating and cooling individual rooms. Models can have as many as four indoor air-handling units (for four zones or rooms) connected to one outdoor unit. Each of the rooms will have its own thermostat and can be operated with a remote control. Mini split systems have no duct work and therefore avoid the associated energy loss.
